The Mandela Rhodes Partnerships

Leadership Capacity building

The Mandela Rhodes Partnerships programme is designed to allow the Foundation to participate in existing or potential leadership capacity-building projects with like-minded organisations, while ensuring maintenance of the quality of such projects. In the period under review, the principal partnership has been the Unilever Mandela Rhodes Academy of Communication and Marketing for the Public Sector (UMRA).

Now in its third year, this innovative and highly successful Partnership based at the Wits Graduate School of Public and Development Management offers the Professional Certificate in Government Communications and Marketing.

Another major Mandela Rhodes Foundation Partnership, involving Unilever and Deloitte, sees the Nelson Mandela Scholarships programme take more than 10 young South Africans to the United Kingdom for further study each year.

Like-minded organisations, which believe their work would benefit from an association with The Mandela Rhodes Foundation, and who are interested in aiding leadership capacity building, are invited to submit detailed partnership proposals to the Foundation.

All proposals are subjected to a rigorous process of investigation and testing against the aims and objectives of the MRF, and require approval by the Board of Trustees or its Executive Committee.
