South Africa & Rhodes University, 2019
Bulelwa Faya is a third year Bachelor of Social Sciences student from Rhodes University about to embark on her Honours Degree in Development Studies. She is a member of the Golden Key honours society and is on the Dean’ Merit List. Prior to beginning her journey at Rhodes University, Bulelwa volunteered with two organizations, Bread of Life (an NGO that is located and works within the township of Langa, where she has lived majority of her life) and ICS (International Citizen Service). ICS is funded by the United Kingdom's government and works with development around the world. After her performance with the program, she was recruited by the organization as their volunteer support and alumni liaison officer. It is these experiences that has made Bulelwa want to work in development. She wants to make a difference in the lives of children and people who come from the same circumstances as her, for the betterment of their future.
