Chambeline Nkah
Cameroon & University of the Witwatersrand, 2026 Chambeline Nkah is an AI enthusiast and social innovator dedicated to using technology for sustainable development and community empowerment. She holds a BSc (Honours) in Software Engineering with a specialization in Machine Learning from the African Leadership University, Rwanda, as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar. Her work merges empathy with impact, exemplified by SmartHaven, an AI-enabled IoT system monitoring chicken health through vocalization analysis for early disease detection, deployed on a 1,500-chick farm in Rwanda. She also received the Women Entrepreneurship for Africa (WE4A) grant for her Smart Four Quadrant Circular Farm project, combining indigenous farming methods with data-driven systems to combat food insecurity. Additionally, she secured National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy funding to install a solar-powered submersible water pump providing clean drinking water to her community. Beyond innovation, Chambeline mentors young women in technology, offering hands-on learning and professional development. Driven by curiosity and empathy, she strives to design solutions that improve lives, foster resilience, and create opportunities for underserved communities across Africa.
