Sunday Ochai

Nigeria & University of Pretoria, 2019

Sunday O. Ochai is a Humanitarian whose passion revolves around putting a smile on the faces of the most vulnerable people in society and building sustainable livelihoods in the North-eastern part of Nigeria, ravaged by the nefarious activities of Boko Haram terrorists. This resulted in his present work with Christian Aid International. He recently started a project called Hope Alive aimed at reaching out to the neglected youth in society with the sole purpose of rehabilitating and giving them a new hope. Sunny as he is fondly called, has held many leadership roles, and his leadership skills are driven by love, sacrifice, respect for others, humility and sense of servitude. He finds it a pleasure to lend his voice to people that can’t speak for themselves and believes that all human beings should be treated equally because we are first humans before any other extraction. Despite the demise of both parents, which made both life and academics very difficult, Sunday started engaging in different ventures at the young age of 11 to raise money for both himself and his siblings. Despite this, he graduated top of his class with a CGPA of 4.80/5.00 and distinctions in all twelve subjects. Sunday has participated in many research activities resulting in 13 journal publications and many more under review.
