Monica is currently pursuing a Master’s in Applied Economics at the University of Cape Town. With a background in Economics and Development Studies, her academic journey is centered on her passion for sustainable development and the intersection of livelihoods and natural resource management.

Her interests span agriculture, fisheries and ecological economics, with a particular focus on understanding how communities can balance the use of natural resources with conservation efforts. Monica is especially intrigued by the role of fisheries in supporting rural livelihoods and maintaining ecological health in Zambia and beyond.

Outside of academia, Monica is passionate about social impact and community engagement. She enjoys mentoring peers, exchanging ideas across disciplines and fostering connections that inspire growth and collaboration. Monica aspires to contribute to Africa’s sustainable development by advancing research and policy solutions that promote harmony between people and the environment.
