Aluwaine Manyonga
Zimbabwe & University of Pretoria, 2026 Aluwaine Tanaka Manyonga is a passionate social innovator and entrepreneur dedicated to empowering marginalized communities across Africa through sustainable technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and has professional experience in building electrical services, home automation, lighting, and solar system design. He is the founder of Zambezi Ark Technologies, a startup providing sustainable energy and lighting solutions, and the creator of the Chigubhu Lantern, a solar powered circular lighting innovation made from upcycled materials. The lantern has become a symbol of education, sustainability, and climate action. Guided by the belief that education can change the world, Aluwaine focuses on improving learning environments through renewable energy access. Through Zartech and the Chigubhu Lantern Initiative, he has supported more than 5,000 students and installed over 200 kW of solar power in schools, homes, and commercial spaces, promoting climate literacy, waste management, and renewable energy skills. Recognized by multiple local and international awards, he continues to champion practical innovation that uplifts communities and protects the planet, driven by a vision of light for every student and every home.
