Alwiya Alawi
Kenya & University of Cape Town, 2026 Alwiya is a lawyer awaiting admission to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with experience in legal practice, policy work, and community engagement. She has worked with Anjarwalla & Khanna LLP and Robson Harris Advocates LLP, gaining exposure to litigation, corporate commercial matters, and private client advisory. At the Refugee Consortium of Kenya, she supported the rights of urban refugees and contributed to policy initiatives for refugee-led and international organizations. Through the Jamia Mosque Community Organisation, she managed bursaries and facilitated evening classes for women, while also contributing to projects on education, disability rights, and mentorship for children in rescue centres. She views law as both a discipline and a public service, committed to empowering people and safeguarding their livelihoods. Her key interests include dispute resolution, commercial law, family law, and labour law. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in law to deepen her expertise and expand her impact.
