Amanda Khosa

Zimbabwe & University of Cape Town, 2026

Amanda Khosa is a conservationist with a strong commitment to preserving the natural world and inspiring others to do the same. Rooted in the belief that people and nature are inseparable, her work bridges the gap between communities and the environment, making conservation both relatable and transformative.

With experience in natural resource management, Amanda’s journey has been shaped by a blend of research, education, and storytelling. Her scientific work explores how patterns in nature can inform sustainable solutions, with published studies on elephant–baobab interactions and human–wildlife coexistence. Yet, she believes research finds its true purpose when translated into stories that move people to act.

A passionate advocate for youth participation and inclusion in conservation and policy, Amanda leads hands-on projects that merge environmental learning with practical community action. Her work often focuses on young people, nurturing a sense of stewardship and belonging in those who will inherit the planet.

As a Nature, Environment and Wildlife Filmmakers (NEWF) Fellow, Amanda explores conservation storytelling as a tool for empathy and change. She views conservation as, at its heart, a story of hope and through collaboration, creativity, and compassion, she strives to help others see themselves as part of the planet’s healing.
