Gloria Badibake
Somalia & University of the Witwatersrand, 2026 Gloria Badibake is a freethinker passionate about exploring the interplay between culture and technology. She holds a bachelor’s degree with triple majors in International Relations, Psychology, and Sociology, as well as an Honours degree in Sociology, reflecting her commitment to understanding the social, political, and psychological forces that shape human experience. Her Honours research examines economic narratives within online communities and how they influence perceptions of gender and relationships. She is driven by a strong interest in African digital cultures and the need for more scholarship from the continent on the intersections of technology, society, and power. Gloria has contributed to student leadership, including developing anti-discrimination policies, serving on her school council, and tutoring at university, where she encourages curiosity and critical thinking. She aims to advance digital humanities in Africa while advocating for ethical and sustainable development of the continent’s digital landscape. Beyond academia, she enjoys reading, co-running a book club, crocheting, and writing reflective pieces on her Medium blog.
