Jadyn Ligoo
Kenya & University of Cape Town, 2026 Jadyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International and Public Affairs from Brown University, where she was a Davis United World College Scholar and Bonner Community Fellow. She is committed to addressing structural inequalities through community-engaged research and her work focuses on urban poverty and the reproduction of social inequality in African cities. At the Conflict Research and Security Studies Lab, she co-led a quantitative study on mass protest movements, supervising a team of undergraduate researchers. She has also held research assistantships at Brown and worked across Kenya, Hong Kong, England, India, and the United States. Her research includes a spatial analysis of extrajudicial killings in Nairobi and the co-design of a course on the politics of geography. Beyond research, she has advocated for migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong, mentored fellow students, and served as Political Action and Community Engagement Coordinator for Brown’s African Students Association. She is currently Chief Editor at JEPA Africa. Jadyn aims to advance inclusive urban governance through scholarship that challenges exclusionary systems.
