John Mwati Gichanga

Kenya & University of Cape Town, 2023

John Mwati Gichanga graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Economics, he also holds a Diploma in Project Management from the Kenya Institute of Management. John was selected as a member of Deloitte Africa NextGen Advisory Council, comprised of millennials and GenZ’s across the firm who act as an advisory committee to the Deloitte Africa Executive. He is also a fellow at the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), launched by President Barrack Obama in 2015 as a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders.

He has been featured as a speaker in various leadership platforms including the 2022 UNDP Bureau for Africa cluster meeting of Resident Representatives where he spoke on value-driven leadership as a key driver to a future smart Africa.

In pursuing a Master’s in Development Economics, John believes he will be better placed to contribute to the transformation of his nation and continent at large. He aspires to mentor young African leaders through his initiative – The Transcending Africa Leadership Foundation – an upcoming dynamic youth network that seeks to nurture a new breed of value-driven leaders across Africa.

John enjoys making friends and reading biographies, he is currently learning roller skating.
