Joy Offere
Nigeria & University of Cape Town, 2026 Joy Offere is a Nigerian education activist and software engineer, graduating with honors in Software Engineering from the African Leadership University as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar. She served as a Teaching Assistant, mentoring students while researching technology’s role in advancing inclusive education across Africa. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Shenovate, a non-profit bridging the gender gap in technology by equipping girls and young women with STEM and digital skills. Under her leadership, Shenovate has reached hundreds of learners in Nigeria and Rwanda through mentorship programs and the Summer School of Code and Design, in partnership with UNGEI, Plan International, and other global organizations. Joy has also developed curricula integrating coding, robotics, and design thinking into accessible education models. A recipient of the Princess Diana Award and the Falling Walls Science Engage Prize, she serves on the Technovation Alumni Leadership Board, connecting young girls with opportunities in AI. Her work blends education, technology, and social innovation, aiming to transform learning systems across Africa. In her free time, Joy enjoys traveling, exploring nature, and studying real estate trends.
