Munaka Munyai
South Africa & University of Cape Town, 2024
Hello, MRF Folks, I am Munaka Tshilidzi Munyai. I am a qualified teacher of History & English; a Strategy Consultant in the Education, Youth & Skills Development sectors, as well as a Communication Strategist. Let’s Connect if you’re interested in or working in any of the above-mentioned fields!
More about Munaka: I completed my undergraduate degree (BA) majoring in English Literature & Historical Studies at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2022. The following year in 2023, I went on to complete my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with a History & English specialisation for Senior Phase (SP) & Further Education & Training (FET) learners that are in Grades 7-12. Both qualifications coincided with my 2020 selection as a candidate fellow in the Jakes Gerwel Fellowship (JGF), a prestigious teaching fellowship which supports and trains high-impact educational change-makers to drive and champion educational change in South Africa. In 2024 I was a resident scholar of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation (MRF) whilst completing my third and final UCT qualification - a (BA) Honours in Development Studies. MRF is a renowned Pan-African, multi-disciplinary leadership institution that selects Africa’s most promising talent and capacitates them to be exceptional leaders in their communities, countries and various sectors. Throughout my studies I have gained significant working experience in the EdTech, FinTech and Development sectors across various executive departments. My core skills include but are not limited to: strategic planning, project management, curriculum development, communication and leadership. In all my roles, I strive to add value. This informs my work and commendation from organisations such as TEDxUCT, Tshimong Foundation, Moya (aka) Bloo Money, ThinkShift EdTech, Computer Guardian & MS Saving Solutions.
My current endeavours involve the Education (EdTech), Business, Arts & Culture and Social & Economic Development sectors as a consultant and communication strategist. I am an experienced speaker and seek opportunities to grow my corporate speaking portfolio in the above-mentioned sectors.
At 23 years old, I aim to dedicate my professional career to transforming education and social development through ethical, inclusive and innovative interventions derived from sound policy outcomes. All my academic, research and work opportunities are geared towards this very dedication.
