Rumbidzai Yasini

Zimbabwe & University of Cape Town, 2026

Rumbidzai Yasini is a dedicated social worker and advocate for girls’ and children’s rights in Zimbabwe. She holds an Honours Degree in Social Work from Bindura University of Science Education and multiple advanced certifications in Human Rights. With more than five years of experience, she focuses on advancing gender equality, challenging harmful cultural practices, and expanding opportunities for girls in underserved communities.

A recognised leader, she is a YALI Regional Leadership Center Fellow, a Women’s Vital Voices Fellow, and the 2022 Gender Champion Award recipient. She founded Sisterhood of Hope, an organisation empowering girls through education, health, and human rights advocacy. Her work has reached over 2,000 girls across Zimbabwe by providing sanitary kits, school uniforms, and learning materials.

Having grown up in a vulnerable community and survived abuse, Rumbidzai brings a deeply personal understanding of the challenges faced by girls and women. Her voice has shaped national conversations on GBV, child protection, and educational equity through platforms such as Star FM. She remains committed to building a safe and inclusive Zimbabwe where no child is left behind.
