Guilhermina Noronha
Mozambique & University of Cape Town, 2026 Guilhermina Noronha holds a Bachelor of Global Challenges (Honours) from the African Leadership University, Rwanda, where she was a Mastercard Foundation Scholar. She is a passionate advocate for gender equality, education reform, and youth leadership in Mozambique and across Africa. Guilhermina is the Founder and Fiscal President of the Mozambican Youth Association for Gender Equality and Education (AMJIGE), a youth-led organisation that promotes access to education and fights child marriage. Her leadership journey began in high school, where she challenged gender stereotypes and led campaigns to encourage girls’ participation in sports. This experience ignited her lifelong commitment to social inclusion. Her academic and professional work focuses on advancing equitable education and leadership opportunities for women and youth. Through AMJIGE, she has led transformative initiatives, empowering over 3,000 young women with leadership, entrepreneurship, and public speaking skills. She has also coordinated community-based climate resilience projects, including training youth to produce clay water filters to respond to post-flood conditions. Guilhermina aims to become an education policy leader who bridges grassroots activism with institutional reform to build inclusive, data-driven, and sustainable solutions for African communities. In her free time, Guilhermina enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching documentaries.
