Mohamed Awud
Kenya & University of Cape Town, 2026 Mohamed Awad is a technology innovator committed to using Artificial Intelligence to improve education, food security, and healthcare for marginalized communities across Africa. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from United States International University Africa with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computer Technology and a GPA of 3.9, highlighting both strong academic ability and a clear purpose-driven approach to tech. At USIU Africa, he served as Vice President of the IT Club and the IEEE Student Branch, mentoring more than 700 students and helping establish the university’s first IEEE Student Branch. This created new opportunities for students to engage with emerging technologies and build practical engineering and computing skills. Beyond university, Mohamed leads a mentorship program supporting more than 1000 high school students across Kenya, inspiring them to pursue education and innovation. He is currently focused on developing AI solutions that expand access to quality education, nutritious food, and affordable healthcare. His work reflects a commitment to reducing inequality and driving inclusive, sustainable development across the continent.
